Already today, Audi
drivers have access to a wide range of
information and entertainment systems.
The radio, CD drive, TV, navigation
system and phone are some examples.
This mix of information and
entertainment - known as infotainment -
will become steadily more important in
future. The increasingly wide range of
functions and options is, however,
moving towards an unavoidable conflict
with the conventional in-car operator
control architecture.
In view of that, Audi has developed a
new-style operator control concept: the
Multi Media Interface (MMI). The MMI
elegantly brings together the operation
of all infotainment components in one
display and operating system. By
reducing down to the essential controls,
and implementing a unified logic, it
permits fast, user-friendly, intuitive
use of a large number of functions and
technologies.
