The Audi quattro Cup,
potentially the world’s most important
amateur golf event, is drawing to a close
for the 2009 season. After the Middle East
qualification tournaments held in Dubai, Abu
Dhabi and Kuwait over the last few months,
the finalists gathered for the regional
final at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club to compete
for participation in the Audi quattro Cup
World Final in Australia in December.
In fantastic weather conditions Thomas
Jivung and Carl Palmlund, both Swedish
nationals from Kuwait, prevailed by scoring
43 Stableford points with a better scoring
back nine holes ahead of Vikram Arora and
John Thomas from Dubai who also scored 43.
Xander de Wet and Richard Mylrae came in a
close third with 42 points.
“It’s great to be able to compete on a
worldwide level as an amateur. Among about
75,000 participants worldwide we made it to
the world final and had great fun along the
way. The Audi guys are doing a great job
with that” said Palmlund.
The Audi quattro Cup is one of the many
events brought to the region by the
AudiExperience. Others include the Audi
Afterwork Lounges, concerts as well as the
Audi DrivingExperience courses held at the
Dubai Autodrome.
